TEL v1.1: Signature Upgrade and Law Enforcement FAQ

by TEL_admin on 09 September 2022

Version 1.1 brings a massive upgrade to the cryptography underlying TEL's digital signatures. Before, the signatures only (cryptographically) proved that exhibit contents had not changed since signing. Now, in addition to proving that the data hasn't changed, the new signatures also cryptographically prove that the exhibit was indeed signed by the listed user.

The downside is that existing digital signatures have been broken, and those exhibits will need to be re-signed. I realize this may be inconvenient, but this upgrade eliminates an avenue of possible legal squabbling over the technicalities of e-signatures, so I think it's worth it.

There is also a Law Enforcement FAQ page available now.
